In the Declaration of Independence, it is stated that all people have certain rights that can’t be taken away. These unalienable rights include the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The Declaration of Independence goes on to state that it is the job of government to protect these rights that people have. When the government fails to protect these rights, the people have no choice but to remove that government and replace it with a government that will do its job and protect the people’s rights. Thus, when the British government stopped protecting our rights, we had no choice but to replace that government. The same would be true today. If our government didn’t protect our rights, we would need to replace it with a government that would protect our rights.
